Today's Fact

On September 5, 1957, Jack Kerouac published his book, "On the Road. It read more like a prose poem than a novel, and the 320-page semiautobiographical work published Kerouac's journeys across sunbaked tarmacs to define the ethos of the Beat Generation. The rambling, stream-of-consciousness travelogue, also launched the author into the literary stratosphere.

  1. That's a book I couldn't get through. Probably was too young when I tried reading it. I wonder if I could today as an old fogey.
