On April 13, 1970, a warning light, a loud bang, and the now infamous message, "Houston, we've had a problem here," left Apollo 13 astronauts facing catastrophe 200,000 miles from Earth. The rocket had launched two days earlier from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. An exploded oxygen tank caused the problem, which scuttled the mission to walk on the moon and made returning to Earth alive the new goal. (They made it home.)
