On March 7, 1876, Alexander Graham Bell patented the telephone. Following the development of his prototype 'harmonic telegraph' device, Scotland-born Alexander Graham Bell received a US patent on a revolutionary new form of instantaneous communication, the telephone. (I wonder if he had any idea of what he would have unleashed over 100 years later?)
