Today's Fact

October 27, 1275 is considered to be the traditional date of the founding of "Aemstrelredamme," which eventually becomes Amsterdam, one of the most important capitals in history. The small town was created after a dam was constructed on the River Amstel because of catastrophic flooding in the Low Countries. By the 17th century, Amsterdam is one of the richest cities in the world.
