Greetings! Happy Spring! I hope the sap is rising wherever you are and the flowers are bursting out of the ground.
What shall we be reading about today for the New Thursday Thirteen? We are looking forward to your entries!
Fun fact of the day:
On March 26, 1892, American poet Walt Whitman died at the age of 72 following a stroke. Whitman, often called "the father of free verse," was also an essayist, journalist, and humanist. He served as a volunteer nurse during the American Civil War. His best known work is poetry collection called "Leaves of Grass."
Here is the beginning of one of his famous works:
Song of Myself
I celebrate myself, and sing myself,
And what I assume you shall assume,
For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.
I loafe and invite my soul,
I lean and loafe at my ease observing a spear of summer grass.
And here's Mr. Linky!
Country Dew, you are a literary soul! Happy spring.
