February 26, 2015

HELLO THURSDAY THIRTEENERS!

It's a great day to be alive, isn't it? I hope you are enjoying your hot/cold/bracing/indiscernible weather. Here on the east coast we've had lots of snow and are expecting more.

Let's get to our list of 13 intriguing and interesting things! I look forward to see what we're all about today!

Here's what happened almost 100 years ago on February 26, 1917:

1914HMHS Britannic, sister to the RMS Titanic, is launched at Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast.

Just like the Titanic, the Britannic sunk. Before sinking, though, it was put to use as a hospital ship in 1915. On November 21, 1916, either an underwater mine or a torpedo caused an explosion and 55 minutes later, it sank. There were 1,066 people on board; 1,036 were saved. It was the biggest ship lost during World War I.

Happy TT!
