Today's Fact

On July 4, 1054, Chinese astronomers spotted a "guest star" in the sky, so brilliant it could be seen in the daytime. It remained visible for some two years, and was observed in Asian, Arab, and possibly American lands. It was identified as the SN 1054 supernova that births the Crab Nebula pulsar. (And you thought I'd list the signing of the Declaration Independence, didn't you!)
