Happy Winter Solstice, and welcome one and all to Thursday Thirteen!
Seasons Greetings to all who are celebrating something this time of year. May your days be blessed and your joy boundless.
Thursday 13 is an easy meme - just write a list of 13 things. What kind of things? Any kind! Books, whatever is on your mind, lists of things on your desk, stuff you collect, quotations, . . . whatever you can think of is fair game.
So please join in the fun and sign up with Mr. Linky after Today's Fact.
On December 21, 1913, the first crossword puzzle was published in the New York World newspaper's 'Fun' section. The diamond-shaped grid, created by Arthur Wynne, introduced a new puzzle called 'Word-Cross' that had numbered squares, clues, and simple instructions to fill the blanks. A typographical error a few weeks later changed the name to 'Cross-Word.' That name stuck.
And here's Mr. Linky!
