On March 2, 1972, Pioneer 10 launched on a journey to Jupiter and other outer planets, then onward into the far reaches of our galaxy. Pioneer 10's last signal was received in 2003; in 2007, NASA declared the probe inactive and incapable of sending signals due to decaying power sources.
