On October 17, 1931, Brooklyn native Al Capone was brought to justice after a violent criminal career, but it was not a rival's bullets or a murder conviction that finally did him in. The 32-year-old known as 'Scarface' was convicted on tax evasion charges and sentenced to a prison term of 11 years.
