Today's Fact
On November 23, 1888, the jukebox debuted in San Francisco in the Palais Royale Saloon. The device was overnight success and eventually drummed player pianos out of drinking establishments. The initial version, a nickel-and-slot player, was a phonograph with stethoscope-like tubes.
