Today's Fact

On October 19, 1386 (!), students began to learn new things at Germany's Heidelberg University. The facility held its first lecture on this date and continues to do so, surviving the Black Death that will ravage the continent, France's destruction of the city, the chaos of the Protestant Reformation, and the cataclysm of two world wars.  It is one of the world's oldest surviving universities and has been coeducational since 1899.
