July 2, 2015

Welcome July! Hope the blackberries are ripe in your area and that the peaches are coming in, too. They're starting to show up at the farmers' markets here.

Thursday 13 is easy! Just make a list of 13 things - we don't care what. You can even list what you have had for breakfast for the last two weeks if you want. We like it all.

Fun Facts:

On July 2, 1776, The Continental Congress of the newly formed United Colonies in North America severed ties with Great Britain. A public Declaration of Independence was formally printed on July 4.

On July 2, 1777, Vermont became the first colony to abolish slavery.

On July 2, 1853, The Russian Army invaded Turkey, beginning the Crimean War.

And I ran across this very strange piece of information:

On July 2, 1843, an alligator fell from the sky during a Charleston SC thunderstorm.
